New World China Land Awarded “Caring Company Logo” for Three Consecutive Years

(1 June 2016, Hong Kong) New World China Land Limited ("NWCL" or “the Group”, Stock Code: 00917) has been awarded the “Caring Company Logo” by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service for three consecutive years, in recognition of the Group’s achievement in corporate social responsibility during the past year.

NWCL places great emphasis on environment, community and employee development, and has been dedicated to facilitating the sustainable development of the communities in which it operates. Apart from setting up the Sustainability Committee in 2012 to ensure related policies are carried out, NWCL published the second annual sustainability report in 2015, enabling the public to better understand their initiatives in sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

NWCL attaches high importance to environmental protection. In 2014, NWCL introduced NWCL Green Building Design Guidelines, providing guidance and recommendations on green design features, material selection and best construction practice. The Group also mitigates water use, reduces waste and reuses rock and other materials from initial demolition and excavation, minimising the potential environmental impacts of NWCL’s projects as far as practicable.

In addition, NWCL has joined hands with Habitat for Humanity to launch farmhouse rebuild programme in poverty region of Sichuan and Guangdong for two consecutive years, and has worked closely with Shan Shui Conservation Centre to launch the Low Carbon Green Home project in Gansu Baishuijiang Natural Reserve. In 2016, NWCL supported the second Qianhai-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Sports Carnival. Magnetising over 5,000 participants from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the event has successfully enhanced the cultural exchanges between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Its New World Volunteer Team - Mainland China’s first volunteer organisation set up by developer - has over 1,200 members throughout 18 cities as at end-2015, with over 150 volunteer services and more than 6,450 hours of volunteer services recorded.

In terms of caring for staff and their family, the Group is committed to creating an ideal working environment and providing a comprehensive range of professional training. In the meantime, seminars on topics such as healthy lifestyle are regularly held and numerous benefits such as family care leave, birthday leave, scholarship and internship programme for employees’ children are provided to all staff members and their families.

Organised by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service since 2002, the Caring Company Scheme aims at building a cohesive society by promoting strategic partnerships among business and social service partners and inspiring corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, employees and the environment.
