New World China Land Joins Earth Hour for 9th Consecutive Year

(29 March 2017, Hong Kong) New World China Land Limited (“NWCL” or “the Company”) has taken part in the WWF’s lights-out event “Earth Hour” for the ninth consecutive year. This year, the Company’s 40 development projects in 11 cities across China switched off their lights for one hour from 8:30pm on 25 March in support of this meaningful event.

The theme for this year’s ‘Earth Hour’ in China is “Blue Future”, drawing the public’s attention to China’s most pressing environmental issue – smog, and encouraging people to adopt sustainability in their lifestyle and consumption habits in the hope that smog will fade and blue skies will reappear.

In response to the ‘Earth Hour’ appeal, NWCL’s participating commercial developments switched off all non-essential lighting, equipment lights, and landscape illumination including neon lights during the event, while related residential developments switched off their landscape lights and neon lights outside of buildings. Participating projects of this event include Beijing New World Centre, Wuhan New World Centre, Ningbo New World, Shenyang New World Garden and Guangzhou Central Park-view etc.

Concurrently, participating properties organised an array of community activities such as eco-friendly unplugged concerts and recycled materials handicrafts workshops to promote energy savings, carbon footprint reduction and the grave importance of environmental protection.

NWCL has long focused on environmental protection and the sustainable development of society. Over the years, the Company has been actively promoting the application and innovation of green architectural designs while enacting its own corporate green building design guidelines. At the same time, 12 of its properties have earned U.S. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification or pre-certification. The Company has also been a recipient of the Caring Company logo from The Hong Kong Council of Social Service for four years in a row, an annual public recognition of their outstanding achievements in environmental protection and corporate citizenship.
